As part of our Hanafi Fiqh and Usual studies, in this long awaited course Shaykh Siddiq Mitha will be teaching the last 5 chapters of the seventh century Ḥanafī scholar Zayn al-Din al-Razi’s indispensable and excellent fiqh manual: Tuhfat al-Muluk (A gift for Kings) .

This text is a well-known and oft-studied primer on ten essential fiqh chapters according to the Hanafi school of law. In this course, we will be taking a deeper look at the last five chapters, namely: Jihad, Inheritance, Hunting & Ritual Slaughter, Earning a living & good manners and the Halal and Haram.

The emphasis in this course is to engage in an in depth study and analysis pf this work to create strong and well rounded students of Hanafi fiqh. And thus, this course is suited to students who may have studied some Hanafi fiqh before and wish to reconsolidate and revise previous knowledge, or beginner students who wish to develop and in-depth understanding of the Hanafi School.

Upon successful completion of the whole text, passing any required assessments and fulfilling the minimum attendance, the students will be granted an ijaza to teach the text.

Learning Outcomes

  • Develop a good understanding of the major rulings in the chapters of Jihad, Inheritance, Hunting & Ritual Slaughter, Earning a living & good manners and the Halal and Haram.

  • Learn how to navigate classical fiqh works in the Hanafi School

  • Learn evidences that underpin certain selected rulings and why they differ with the other schools

  • Be confident with the major rulings of the the studied chapters according to the methodology of the Hanafi School.

  • Complete a classical Hanafi fiqh work with a teacher.
